Simon here from Danza Loca, wishing you a
happy New Year and with lotsa IMPORTANT dancing updates!
We'd especially
like to welcome all new additions to the mailing list and commiserate with
you over your new obsession, Salsa. Don't worry, most of us have the same
problem...
It came to our attention last year that many Danza Loca
newsletter emails were no longer reaching all of the recipients listed in our
database. (After much gnashing of teeth, hair pulling, occasionally sulking
and ultimately revising our mailing system, it seems that we have
the problem licked!)
We hope that this newsletter will reach SOME
people who ONCE received our emails though may have not received our mail for
up to 1 year and a half! We need to know if this is the first of our emails
that you have received in a LONG while. Our last mail out was at Christmas
2007. IF YOU ARE ONE OF THESE "EX" RECIPIENTS, PLEASE REPLY TO THIS
EMAIL WITH "Thank God, Finally got one!" IN THE SUBJECT LINE. This would
be really helpful in assessing our "fix", so thanks in advance.
Nice to
see so many of you already back in our classes and enjoying the "Summer
Salsa" vibe!
In addition to our established "Salsa Cubana" program,
running Tuesdays at Mustang Bar, Wednesdays at the Claremont Hotel,
Thursdays at Gilkison's, and Saturday (3pm) Workshops at KSAC, we are
delighted to add new classes to our weekly line-up:
1) NEW
CLASSES STARTING FROM FEB 11th : In addition to our "Salsa Cubana"
lineup,
SALSA CLUBSTYLE / COOL COMBO'S (Tuesday 7PM @ Mustang):
Simon brings you wikidly cool Salsa
moves and turn patterns and styling from the very best of American
and International Style (LA, NY, London) Instructors. (recommended Int 1 or
above)
DANCE OF THE MONTH (Thursday 7pm @ Gilkison's):
Your opportunity to learn MORE than just
the basics in our selected Dance of the Month.
Classes will be run on a
progressive format, becoming more challenging each week.
We intend to run
a friendly and fun 'handicap' COMPETITION IN THE
SELECTED DANCE ON THE FINAL
THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH, with HUGE PRIZES
(of questionable
value)...
February (from 11th): MERENGUE
March: BACHATA
April: CHA
CHA
May: SON
For space considerations , our INT 1, INT 2 and INT 3 7pm
Earlybird
Cuban classes will be cancelled. For Salsa Cubana ONLY BEGINNER'S
2B
WILL BE AVAILABLE AT 7PM.
2) Coming soon: BALLROOM and
LATIN CLASSES at our recently acquired ROYAL PARK STUDIOS (North Perth),
Social and medalist classes planned for MONDAY NITES.
For those of you
wishing to really develop your dancing, taking on a variety of rhythms
(Rumba, Cha Cha, Jive,Waltz, Tango, Slow Rhythm, Quickstep and
Samba).
3) NEW SALSA VENUE (From Feb 7th): The SAIL AND ANCHOR
(Fremantle)
is getting into the Salsa vibe Thursday Nights with local
band SABROSON from 9.30pm.
Danza Loca will run our famous FREE INTRO
LESSON at 7PM, with
Beginners 1 and Beg 2ABC Cuban Salsa from 8.15 to
9.15PM
As classes build, higher levels will be added.
*** To clarify: Yes Gilkisons is still running,
and we are *also* running the Sail and Anchor at the same time on
thursday. So yes there are 2 venues to go to. But only beginners
classes will run at the Sail and Anchor *** {JB}
